This coastal city lies on the east coast of Australia, in Queensland. Gold Coast is well known for its 70 km long sandy beaches and system of inland canals and waterways. I think it’s redundant to explain the name of this city. The sand is so tiny and golden colour and it has a neverending coast.
Now that I’ve said all this introductory stuff, let’s get to things you can actually connect to. Here’s a photo from the plane. It looks ridiculously amazing. I don’t know if you can see it properly, but on the right side of the picture, just beside the coast, you can see big skyscrapers. Well, that’s the centre of the Gold Coast. Doesn’t it look amazing?
Endles beaches all intertwining in one. It’s ideal for surfers, because of the big waves. Let me tell you, it was my first time swimming in the ocean. In Croatia, I’m used to just chill on the lilo or play volleyball or whatever. There are no big waves. But you can’t really do this here, not on this open side of the ocean. What you can do here is sunbathe at the beach, surf or jump on the waves trying to keep your bathers on. And surf! And it can be overwhelming. If you’re not used to the ocean, be careful. The currents are really strong. But it can be really fun.
And here’s how the beaches look like. There’s much more photos you can see in Australia gallery.
Now, on the other side, the sea is more calm and you can do more relaxing things, like paddle boarding. I’ll be talking about that in one of my next posts.
I would say Gold Coast is kind of a posh city. And I don’t mean this in a bad way, at all. It is very beautiful, but different from Byron Bay, lets say. Different vibe. Maybe for a different group of people. I could be wrong, but this is the impression I got over there. And that’s why I always say how Australia is so versatile and that’s what I love about it. Everybody can find something for themselves. Me? Well, I enjoyed absolutely everything.
And now the view from one of many high buildings over there. And one of my favourite photos. You feel like you are at the top of the world! I cannot believe how amazing that looks.
I miss it. It’s the place where I fell over the pole in a nightclub 10 years ago. It’s the place where the chef in Chinese restaurant threw a pancake or whatever over my head by mistake. It’s the place where I’ve seen a cockroach for the first time and couldn’t sleep for nights from terror of finding it sleeping on the right side of the bed. I didn’t know what it was, it looked like an alien and it flew. It flew! It’s the place where I went in the roundabout on the opposite side and where I drove through the red light because everything is on the opposite side. And it’s the place where I swam in the ocean for the first time 🙂
That’s Gold Coast to me. And much more.
Marvelous… 🙂 You can see true happyness in your eyes, and that’s priceless… 🙂 I am sure Australia will see you again soon. 🙂
I’m sure it will 🙂
